Holiday Tips
What to say to friends and family:
- “Please get my attention before starting to speak to me.”
- “Make eye contact with me the whole time you’re speaking.”
- “Remember is not loudness I need, but clarity of speech so I can understand – but don’t exaggerate your words, either.”
- “Please don’t try to talk to me from another room.”
- “Make sure I sit with my back to the window so the light is on YOUR faces.”
- “Is there someone who will sit next to me and keep me in the loop of the conversation if I get lost?”
- “Please turn down/off the music and mute the TV. Can someone turn on the captions, please?”
